Monday. Big Big Week.

Crossfit European Regionals are in t-11 days and I CANNOT WAIT. Well I'm going to have to but really, it is an exciting prospect to volunteer and hopefully see some incredible athletes such as Mikko Salo. I only say Mikko Salo because I have watched hundreds of clips of him competing and training when he was forced upon me at an early stage by Dan Crisp, my mentor, training partner, flatmate and best mate. And thanks to Dan, Mikko running like a whippet up a hill will forever be engrained in my mind, I want to be that fast.

But it's about my home team, Crossfit Leeds, my boys, my girls that I really want to see. Who are all an unbelievable bunch of people. I don't wish to cause arguments or disputes, but when it comes to atmosphere, bonds, noise, support and sheer determination it is all about Crossfit Leeds.
So this is where I start, a retrospective incite into my journey with Crossfit alongside coach Mike "Rawlosaurus" Rawlinson and the Leeds likely lot.

To cut the settings short; Sept '10 left home for Leeds Met Uni and met Sir Dan Crisp, Oct '10 went to my first Crossfit session and puked, went a few more times at 8am which as a student was grim and eventually gave up, yes, I WAS weak. Pain is weakness leaving the body and I hadn't suffered enough pain.

So about 6 weeks ago, I came back to take on Crossfit. Not reinvented, but stronger mentally, I knew what I was facing this time and it was most definitely not going to kick my ass again! Well that's what I told myself, but yeah we all know I was wrong there. The pain however had changed, it wasn't a brutal pain, it was bloody brilliant pain. The feeling after every WOD ("workout" to globo-loving readers) is like the feeling from your funny bone, its a mixture of two oxymorons. The deep burn from the lactic acid building in your gruesomely tired muscles crossed with the overwhelming ecstasy and delight that you feel just as you see you've knocked 10 minutes off your filthy fifty time. And all this whilst your favourite tracks are blasted away in the background to remind you that you aren't in hell just quite yet. It is AWESOME and I am obsessed.

Announcement: Rawli and everyone at the gym need a massive shout out, because without their encouragement, knowledge and efforts, then the box would be nothing without those guys. It's an incredible place to train and even with a recent bulging disc injury which has forced me to rest for a while, I still need to go down because I miss it like crazy. They deserve to see off regionals and go Stateside and how amazing would it be to witness that, wow. Good Luck Rawli, Dan, Mike, Nicky, Rosie and Chloe. Lets Rock Bolton!

Remember...

If at first you don't succeed, try, try again. YES SIR.

Peace out,
mbc.
